In the first part of these two articles on increasing your self-esteem, I commented that your self-esteem could be a little low right now because of not reaching goals of various kinds. The great thing is that you are still alive to continue the journey and set new goals.
Here are 4 more tips to get that self-esteem engine revving to high gear, which I've modified from an article in my local newspaper:
1. Forget about the word 'diet'! Decide to eliminate one food per week and see how it makes you feel. Do it for another week and add another item. Or, if this was in the category of high carbs or junk food, substitute it with a fruit or vegetable.
2. Do something fun for someone in your community. Bring a smile to someone else. "There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving" is so true.
3. If you're not doing this, find ways to laugh at yourself. Your stress level will decrease dramatically. While you're at it, laugh at stress too. I know; it's easier said than done!
4. Take time for yourself. Take a book or your MP3 player to a quiet place - a park, a lake, the beach. Or, you may thrive of activity around you; go to a restaurant or coffee-shop for a cup of coffee or a smoothie. Let this be your time to refresh your mind and spirit.
